Taliban Attacked Offices in Farah

Insurgents attacked a provincial court and a bank in western Afghanistan on Wednesday, sparking an hour-long gun battle with security forces, an official said.

“A group of Taliban suicide bombers occupied buildings of a court and Kabul Bank in Farah city this morning,” Akram Khpalwak, the governor of Farah province told.

“We fear there are casualties inside the buildings, but we don’t have any figure yet,” he said.

Security troops were searching the compound for bodies and possible bombers still hiding inside, Khpalwak said.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the attack.
