A New Zarih Being Built for Askariyayn Holy Shrine

A new Zarih (outer sarcophagus enclosure) is being built for the holy shrine of Imamayn Askariyayn (Imam Hadi and Imam Hassan Askari (AS)).

Head of the Headquarters for Reconstruction of Atabat Aliyat (Iraq’s Shia holy sites) made the announcement, adding that the new Zarih will be completed in the current year.

Hassan Palarak said by the end of the current year, the new Zarih will be transported to the city of Samirra and installed in the holy shrine of Imam Hadi (AS) and Imam Hassan Askari (AS).

According to Palarak, the dome of the holy shrine in Samirra, which was destroyed in two bomb attacks in 2006 and 2007 is being reconstructed by the headquarters and will be unveiled this year.

As for the new Zarih of Imam Hussein (AS), which was installed in Karbala’s holy shrine in early 2013, he said there is a little engineering work needed to be done to complete the installation and that it will be done in about three or four months.
