Hundreds of Shia Muslims rally to defend Hadrat Zainab’s shrine

Hundreds of Shia Muslims in Damascus protested near holy Shrine of Hadrat Zainab condemned ongoing threat of Free Syrian Army terrorist group against Holy Shia shrines especially holy shrine of Hadrat Zainab, daughter of Imam Ali, the first Shia Imam.

Protesters set up in response to the perceived danger to the shrine and mosque from Wahhabi fighters who desecrated other places of worship for Shias, who are a minority in Syria. “They are there for one purpose and that is to defend the shrine,” said sources.

Shia people at Sayyida Zeinab decided to prevent a repeat of the wholesale sectarian violence that followed the 2006 attack on the Iraq’s Shia Imam al-Askari mosque, blamed on al Qaeda, which cost thousands of lives, both Sunni and Shia.
