President Karzai Returns Home from Qatar

President Hamid Karzai and his accompanying delegation returned home yesterday evening from a two-day visit to Qatar.

The President yesterday noon met with H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani – the Emir of Qatar at the Amiri Diwan of the State of Qatar.

At the meeting, the two sides explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in different arenas including the Afghan peace process and Qatari investments in Afghanistan.

Following the bilateral meeting, President Karzai visited,  the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha.

Upon arrival at the museum, the President first went to see Afghan handicrafts, wood engravings and other historical relics-dating back to the old epochs of Afghan kings and rulers, displayed by Ferozkoh organization at the Museum.

At the end of the visit, President Karzai wrote a few lines in the Museum’s book to express his pleasure of seeing Afghan arts therein, wishing that his country would further exhibit its rich history and arts to the world.

The Museum of Islamic Art houses many works including artifacts and textiles- originating from the Islamic eras in Spain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, India and the Central Asia.
